One of the things I love most about sunset whale watching is that there’s no expectation.
Some afternoons are full of excitement.
You might witness enormous breaches, tail slaps that echo across the Gulf, or competitive heat runs as males chase one another through the water.
Other days are wonderfully quiet.
A mother may rest beside her calf, both slowly surfacing together before disappearing beneath the water again.
Sometimes the whales are simply sleeping.
To some people, that might sound uneventful.
But I think it's one of the greatest privileges we have.
To quietly observe these incredible animals during one of their most vulnerable moments is something very few people ever experience.
There are not many wild animals that would allow us to share such peaceful moments with them.
It speaks volumes about the calm environment we work so hard to maintain on every tour.
